Because, in the story which eventually emerged, Matthew’s visit is neutral as to the question whether he could know that Madeleine was still in the apartment or not, any stress on Jane’s sighting is unnecessary, as the supposed “abduction” could have happened both before and after the visit. A good read however. It must not worry about political correctness. It’s very hard to find sympathy for people who bring their young children on holiday and then spend little ad with them – the children spent the majority of their time in Daycare.

I enjoyed this book because we finally get to learn about the bigger picture. As readers we would then expect a thorough analysis of what the nightly discussion was about. Deleting Matthew’s visit from the story was contemplated during the nightly discussion, but abandoned as a viable option, I suspect because the visit had already been mentioned and could no longer be denied in a believable way.

It’s not sensationalist, it’s full of short, precise chapters with facts and results laid out.
Then we arrive quickly at an absurdity, because, since we must assume that the nightly discussants were knowledgeable about the death, we must now conclude that they were thinking about misleadingly putting Matthew inside an apartment around the time that a child is dying or just died minutes earlier! They have assured me that they will contact the publisher to request stockpiles of the book and hope that it will be on sale soon.

The McCanns and their holiday friends eventually settled on a narrative about Madeleine’s disappearance which contained as told two very confusing elements, the well-know sighting by Jane of a possible abductor and the subsequent visit of Matthew to the apartment of the McCanns.
I have to admit these statements where quite off putting for me as a reader, and distracted me from the point of the book, I fear this could be particularly distorting and distracting for those who are unaware of British culture, and could misinform their views of the case.
The anti-British statements come in two forms, those directed at the police and politicians of the UK and those directed at English culture in general. Will this book be published in English? I understand that the book is available online, but given the public interest and support for Snr Amaral, I believe many, many people would like the opportunity to buy hte real book.
I know it is available online but I would never read a full book on the internet, and I am sure there are many others the same.
